Gaby Brüggemann - Artistic Development

  • 1953 born in Mannheim, Germany
  • since 1973 living in Brühl/ Baden
  • 1972 – 1975 studies in fine art (main focus) and German at the PH Heidelberg, student of Prof. Max Kläger
  • 1982 – 1984 living in Haiti; Haitian painting has great influence on her further artistic work.
  • 1983 close contacts with the Haitian painters Lionel Laurenceau and Maurice Vital
  • 1986/ 87 curating an exhibition of Haitian art in Germany
  • 1988 – 1990living again in Haiti; organizing of a workshop for art weaving at SOS Children’s Village Haiti
  • 1990 first own exhibition in Port au Prince/ Haiti
  • 1990 – 2001 widening of her artistic experiences by several travels to Australia, Bali, South Pacific, Caribbean, Central America and USA
  • 1995 – 2004 studies and freelance artistic work at studio SAGA, Siegfried Angermüller, Heidelberg
  • 2000 Co-founder of the artists group „Heidelberger-Dreieck“
  • since 2001 freelance artist in her own studio
  • since 2017 member of „Frauen-Kunst-Kultur“, Heppenheim

Artistic education and training:

  • Studies in fine art at the PH Heidelberg (main focus)
  • soapstone sculturing  with Hartmut Brunnenkant, Mannheim
  • acrylic, watercolour painting and nude painting with Wolfgang Sautermeister, Mannheim ,
  • oil painting with Armin Liebscher, Mannheim,
  • acrylic painting at studio SAGA with Siegfried Angermüller, Heidelberg,
  • since 2001 freelance artist at her own studio in Brühl
